Welcome! Founded in 1965 by Dr. Wachtang "Botso" Korisheli and staffed by conductors and coaches with extensive experience, the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony provides an excellent environment for young musicians to develop their skills through symphonic and chamber music training. The Youth Symphony is part of the San Luis Obispo Symphony's extensive Music Education program and it is the only opportunity between Santa Barbara and Monterey for school-age musicians to receive full orchestral training. Academy in the Pines The Academy String Orchestra will be heading to Cambria in January for their annual retreat called "Academy in the Pines." The camp offers intensive music instruction and a great time of ensemble-building and fun! Many thanks to San Luis Obispo's newest music school and store - Music Motive - for their generous support of Academy in the Pines.
